Accurate and reliable data on type 2 diabetes should tell you that currently, no known 100% cure on diabetes has been developed in the medical field yet. Albeit a diabetic patient can try and even prevent the diabetes condition from worsening he or she cannot completely treat it. Fact #2: Type 2 Diabetes is not fully understood.

There are numerous researchers and scientific organizations that are constantly trying to help us understand information on type 2 diabetes. It is a fact however that more studies need to be conducted to fully understand the disease. Even its exact causes cannot be fully determined. It is possible that genetic heritage makes some people insulin resistant. This genetic resistance, combined with poor eating and lifestyle habits may worsen diabetes.

Fact #3: Eating too much sugar does not cause diabetes.

The act of eating too much sweets, by itself, does not cause diabetes. But since a diabetic's body is unable to process glucose, diabetics are warned and cautioned against eating too much sweets. Information about type 2 diabetes should tell you that we need insulin in our body to open up and take in glucose for energy production and that type 2 diabetics' body do not react to such function of the insulin.

Sugar is only one of the many foods that your information on type 2 diabetes should warn you against. Another food that type 2 diabetics should be careful in taking in is Carbohydrates. This is because foods rich in carbohydrates produce just as much glucose as any other sweets. Fact #4: Not all fruits are good.

Some people think that a healthy diet of fruits and vegetables is all that is needed to manage diabetes. It is not about eating as many fruits and vegetables as you can. It is about making sure that you eat only your recommended share of sugars and carbohydrates in one day. Fruits still contain a form of sugar and you should avoid those that are high in the glycemic index as shown and provided by your doctor in your information on type 2 diabetes.

Fact #5: Some diabetics don't show symptoms.

It doesn't mean that just because you do not have the typical symptoms that you do not have or will never develop diabetes. It is enough to have risk factors such as advanced age, being overweight and genetic family history to convince you to undergo regular check ups. Some people discover the disease only when they are already suffering from a complication.

Fact #6: You may die from complications.

It is not really diabetes itself that kills in most cases. Diabetics usually die because of the complications. Heart ailments for example are the number one cause of death in people with severe or uncontrolled diabetes. Others however may also suffer from kidney failure.
