Things That Cause Your Stress

By: Andrew John

Before you start coping with your stress, it is a good idea to find out what actually causes it. This will let you deal with causes rather than effects and make stress vanish almost instantly. However, the problem is that what we usually perceive as the true reason of your stress is only a trigger while the real reason of your present condition are buried much deeper than you suspect. Unless you want to spend fortune on psychotherapists, sit back, relax and start looking for the possible reasons. The best way to do it is making a list of all potential causes, then eliminate them one by one.

Get a piece of paper and start making notes. List all situations in your life that make you feel bad. Try to be as specific as you can, but if you feel strongly about more general problems, you may include them in your list.

When you finish writing down stressful situations, continue to the next part of the list - people. If anyone adds to your stress by commenting your actions, making you look bad or simply makes you feel awful merely by his or her presence, you should consider increasing distance between yourself and those people. Remember that it is perfectly ok to keep some relationship professional only or even break them up if they are harmful to your well-being.

Now you can turn your attention to solutions rather than to problems. Think about how you can alter your current lifestyle, family life and work environment to amend your problems. Do not hesitate and write down even the most extreme solutions as long as they are technically doable and won't bring more problems than they can solve.

When you're finished, start a final section of your list: entertainment. Write down everything you like doing regardless of whether you actually do them. You have to know what makes you happy and relaxed - those two feeling are about the only shield you have against stress.

When the list is ready, you know more or less what you should do to get rid of your stress. The only thing you should keep in mind is to read the list regularly (once a month is usually enough) and keep it up-to-date. If you follow your own advice, your stress level will fall down quickly and will never rise again.
