Printing Company: Understanding Your Rights and Getting Satisfaction

By: Owenskie

The thing with reading the fine print on online transactions is that they are too long. The terms of use or the terms and conditions are just plain boring to read. Normally, consumers think that it is just one button to press to get over with their transactions, whether it be with a printing company or an online gourmet shop.

If you are a business person, you know that understanding and reading through the terms and conditions provided by online, commercial printers is a must. If you are a customer who will print online for the first time and you just want get it over with, you may still want to look into the terms and conditions so you know what to expect.

Customer Satisfaction and Printing Liabilities
If you know how the printing process works, then all the better you know about the various elements that could contribute into making the print job more difficult. You know what to expect, what could go wrong and how to avoid them.

However, not everyone knows about printing. Not everyone else is too keen to know and consider all these factors, after all, what a consumer wants is a satisfying end product. However, in order to help you avoid any trouble and before going on with a discussion on what or how you can maximize your prints, it will do well to remember these:

1. The input always determine the output. If you used poor resolution images, your printer can only do so much and may not even print your file because it wouldn’t produce a clear print.

2. Many customers forget to have their files converted into CMYK. RGB files are not printed by printing companies nor would they convert them for you. This is the usual case.

3. Customers always forget to put in bleeds around their print order. A 0.125 inch should be placed all around your desired print size.

4. Use the appropriate template provided by printing companies. In this manner, you can prepare and submit your files in the right manner, with the orientation, page layout and everything else.

Making Choices and Understanding Choices
Every choice you make, you have the responsibility to understand just on what terms you make them. In this manner, you can also expect on what terms they will come. As with printing, the terms of use or conditions offered by printing companies differ.

Here are some information regarding general rules, guarantees, reprinting and such offered by commercial printers:

1. If you are not satisfied with the print job, you will be asked to return the original prints. The disadvantage to this is that you have to wait for another set of days for the turnaround time.

2. You can return your prints or have them reprinted for free if your printer has processed your file all wrong. As an example, the cut is misaligned or had cut an important text. The image too is misaligned or askew.

3. You cannot hold printing companies liable for prints when they are already out of the factory and are being shipped out.

4. Turnaround times are not guarantees. This is the production time it takes to run your prints. They also take effect on certain terms, such as full payment and proof approval within the cut off time.

5. No printing company will guarantee the color accuracy of your prints to 100%. This is because computer monitors will always reflect a different color because it uses an RGB color profile, while prints are processed through CMYK.
