Perplexed by the Multiplicity of Mortgages

By: Ajeet Khurana

The council house idea had been pretty popular for a long time. The concept seemed a neat one. A local council built these houses and became responsible for their maintenance. However, with real estate becoming such a great area for investment, the concept was destined to become dated. Today, everyone wants a place of their own. So even if a person is living in a council house, he can avail of what is called the "Right to Buy" scheme to buy the home that he is dwelling in.

In comes the idea of the council house mortgage. With the rising numbers of people taking loans for their home owning needs, this was a development that was bound to happen. It certainly is great that mortgages are now available to people who are residing in public housing facilities.

It is a good thing that, a mortgage loan is no longer as hard as it used to be. No matter what kind of a home or property you are willing to invest in, there has to be a good mortgage loan to suit your budget. In fact, when I recently went mortgage shopping, I was rather shocked (though pleasantly so) at the sheer variety of loans that were available to me. Moreover, the wide diversity of mortgage loans providers boggled my mind. Such a wide range is bound to baffle even the best of people. Although I had gone out with the aim of coming home with the perfect mortgage loan, that did not happen. Instead, I returned home with a folder full of flyers and visiting cards. It was not going to be as easy as I thought it might be.

Finding that ideal mortgage is far more bewildering than it seems. After all, you have to filter it out from all the junk offers, the mortgages that are clearly not what you want despite the fantastic attempts at marketing.

I will grant you that it has become easier for people with all kinds of financial and educational situations to get hold of a good mortgage loan (at least they don't have to get on the good side of the banker anymore). But, nothing can have only advantages. And the disadvantage plaguing seekers of mortgages everywhere is the sheer number of mortgage loans available. How do you pick out the best ones? There are a million websites on the world wide web that offer us great information on mortgages. But then, they are mostly promoting their own mortgages. Try to choose a mortgage loan if you are looking to get bewildered.
