Music for Your Soul?

By: David Susan

Now-a-days, I steer clear of music unless it is mine, which I created on

my computer.

Other music has become more idolized than listened to, in my opinion.

I don't care what it is, if the media or society pushes it, then that seems

to be the “thing” to do. People will do it, or listen to it. That’s got to be the

reason why so many people are listening to very, very poor music

these days.

It seems as if people follow in herds like cattle. Yes, it is the advertiser’s

everyday holiday, making people believe it's the "thing to do".

Walk off a cliff, and there goes a herd of them over the edge. The world is

full of followers.

The most famous example of followers was when Hitler influenced an entire

Nation to do what they did, and more recently Jim Jones having a

following of 500 people who took cyanide laced Kool Aid.

Most people do not have a code, morals, or religion to go by, and I don't

mean when you feel like adhering to your "you" made laws but an

agreement made before hand with yourself. An agreement not to behave this way

or that way. Not maybe, or just this one time, but.....NO! I do not want to be a

follower.

Well, maybe one of the best examples is when you justify your actions

according to the way people treat you. Example: "She was grouchy toward

me so next time I see her I will ignore her". Example: You pulled out in front

of me with your car so I will blast you with my horn, or my mouth, or do something

much worse, sure sounds to me like we are playing judge, jury, and executioner.

I'm not a very religious person but the most important words spoken by God are:

"Remember that I am God and you Ain't!" Constantly searching for myself,it took me 50

years of grazing around, being influenced by other people, mainly my parents.

I finally became a third person by choosing to accept the positive traits of my

parents and leaving behind the negative, hence, becoming a new person, the third

person (my parents and I)......a non follower.
