Five Factors That Make A Mystery Book Good

By: nan492

Plot

This is one of the most important parts of a mystery. It has to be a plot that is a thriller and one that takes the reader on a roll er coaster ride. We do not want a mystery to be boring. It has to be exciting.

Suspense

The book will keep the reader guessing throughout the novel. The reader will not be able to guess who the murderer is from the very first chapter. In fact, if it is a really good mystery, you might have a couple of suspects in mind – not only one.

Characters

The novel will have strong characters that will seem almost real. They will play a major role in the book and as a result will keep the reader's attention. If the writer does a good job with the descriptions of the characters, the reader will be able to come up with a picture of how this person really looks.

Intrigue

As you start reading the very first page, the book will consume the reader. You will want to keep on turning the pages to find out what is going to happen. The reader will be engrossed with everything that is going on in this novel.

Fast Paced

The book must be one that will keep moving so the reader doesn't get bored with some slow parts. The novel should have many twists and turns to keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

Did you ever buy a mystery book at your local bookstore that seemed like a really good read? You got this impression by reading the jacket cover. However, when you started to read the book, you ended up disappointed. I have had this happen many times. I just couldn't understand how the book sounded so great on the jacket cover but was just the opposite once I started reading it. It is difficult to tell how a book is going to be unless we actually sit down and read it. The best way is to check several reviews of the book in order to get a consensus of what others might think. You might also check with your friends to see which books they have read and are willing to recommend.

In summary, even though we all have an idea as to what we would like to see in a mystery book, it is difficult to foresee these things without really reading the book. This is why book reviews are so important. If we find that a book is not worthwhile, we can save others the time of reading the book. All we have to do is give the book a fair review of what we think about it.
