Dye Them To Look Young

By: sashi

Dying of hair is the simplest way to prevent gray hair from being seen and maintain a younger look for an extended duration. Though there are many products available in the market which promise gray hair treatment but none of them have been found to be very rewarding. In dying of hair, there are some steps which one should generally adhere to while undergoing the complete dying process and prevent gray hair from being seen.

In the initial phase, you have to understand the basic fact that gray hair is resistant to hair color. To help the color to penetrate the gray hair and form a coating around it, a chemical compound the form of gray hair additive is added to it. However, if you are one whose gray hair is not resistant to hair color, you can opt for any of the regular colors in the market. Therefore, determine your hair type before opting for any of the hair colors.

After determining your type of hair you have to identify as to which hair color product is best suited for you. There are temporary hair colors available in the market today which last until your next shampoo. It is an excellent choice for people who aren’t sure if covering their gray is right for them. A word of caution, however; if you opted for a shade which is more than one shade darker than your natural hair color, it will not get washed out in one shampooing. A semi-permanent hair color is also an excellent choice for people who don’t want to keep the new hair color. As with the temporary products, never go more than one shade darker unless you want permanent results.

Permanent hair coloring is for those who want to keep the same color for a longer duration. There choice is permanent and they want to have the same color. The only way to get rid of this type of coloring is to grow it out or shave it. However, it does require minor brushing up here and there at least once a month.

You should go for an allergy test before getting into any type of hair coloring. It is generally written on the cover of the hair color as to how to go about it. If any confusion still persists seek advice from your doctor. Post allergy test mix the dye as per the instructions given on the leaflet which you get with the product box. Always take care to have a correct mix of dye to get the correct color of your hair. Use gloves to prevent itching in your hands later. Apply petroleum jelly around your hairline and cover with cotton balls to prevent any excess dye from getting on your skin.

Use a comb to separate the hair while you apply the dye. A plastic cap will help in better retention of the color. Leave it for some time as advised by the product - generally 25-40 minutes. Remember the more time the dye is in your hair, the darker the color. However, keeping the dye in for longer than the product’s recommendation could result in severely damaged hair.

Now remove the cotton balls and rinse the dye from your hair until the water runs clear. Apply a good hair conditioner to give your hair the new look. Leave it for sometime. Before rinsing it thoroughly. Finally, dry your hair either naturally by indirect sunlight or with a towel. Avoid a hair dryer as it can damage your hair. Style your hair thereafter as per your choice and liking. Selecting a special post-coloring shampoo will help maintain the color.

Hair color if regulated properly will prevent gray hair from becoming evident. All that is required is a certain level of expertise in selecting the correct product and thereafter, a bit of practice to color your hair in the desired manner.
