Coping With Traveling Stress

By: Andrew John

We often feel excited when it comes to traveling. Many of us tend to consider traveling as an opportunity rather than danger. Sometimes however, it is no so funny. When we go by airplane, stay for hours in traffic jams, or simply have to travel for a few hours with small children - we feel stressed, in some situations we are even stressed enough to spoil the whole trip (or cause us leave an otherwise perfect job). If you want to avoid travel-related stress, you must learn a few things.

Traveling to work is one of the most common causes of stress, but is also one of the easiest to avoid. It is enough to get up earlier - ten or twenty minutes may be enough to reduce your stress level a lot. This few minutes in reserve may change traveling to work into from a nightmare into a slow, pleasant drive. Another thing is listening to the radio. Soft music is able to minimize your stress while driving.

Traveling with children can easily become extremely stressful for their parent. Kids are easily bored and can change even a relatively short drive into a nightmare. Also, they will often ask you to stop even in the middle of nowhere because they must go for a walk or take a pee. Not to mention stopping at every gas station for snacks. What should you do with that? It's simple: do not try to force anything. Best just prepare the travel in a way that makes children requests impossible or inapplicable. How? For example, travel during nights when the children fall asleep. Choose the shortest routes with minimal numbers of attractions. Make sure that children have something to do during the trip - other than being bored or fighting between each other.

There is also one more thing you have to learn if you want to travel without stress. It is a relatively simple trick that will make all your travels a lot easier. The tpoint is that you have to remain calm even when you get stressed. If you follow that advice you will soon notice that your stress will go away. Remember that no hotel, bridge or traffic jam is worth to be furious about. Take a deep breath and relax - you will sooner or later arrive at your destination anyway and there is nothing you can really do to make it any faster now, so you can stop worrying right now.
