Bvlgari Perfume - Funny Name, Funny Smell?

By: Shauna Moline

If you majored in English, now would probably be a good time to leave. I'm about to introduce a new word, Bvlgari Perfume. No, it's not misspelled. It's an old Roman way of spelling Bulgari, and it's spelled that way for a reason. I don't know what the reason is, but I bet it's a good one! You can spell it either way, and most people end up looking for Bulgari perfume, just because it's natural to want to spell words correctly.

Bvlgari is a famous designer label, making everything from sunglasses to watches. They also, obviously, make fabulously expensive perfume. They are considered the brand you want to wear if you are nominated for an Oscar. The Bvlgari brand name is less well known than Tiffany's, but has a more fanatical and discriminating following. Bvlgari watches, for example, are considered equal to Rolex.

If you're wondering why it's so pricey, take a look at one of their main ingredients...roses. Now you're probably thinking, "Hold on, roses?" But let me finish. Know how much it takes to make 1 ounce of pure rose oil? The answer is...4000 lbs. of rose petals! Holy cow! No wonder those bottles cost $100!

One of the most popular Bvlgari perfumes is Rose Essentielle, which is mostly made up of other scents other than rose, or no one would buy it. It also has blackberry, living mimosa, patchouli and several other flowers whose names makes this writer's eyes cross.

One of the more realistic and fun options Bvlgari perfumes provides that many other designer perfume makers don't is that they sell tester sized bottles. They are usually are sold online, so you need to fire up the old Google and your old noodle in order to find them.

The quickest way, of course, is to just head on over to a wholesale perfume site. It's a site that offers tester bottles, opened box perfumes, and wholesale perfumes, all at a discounted price. The downside? There might not be a fancy bottle or a pretty box to look at. But hey, you'll have the $100 perfume for $50, so who cares?

You could also check eBay for tester bottles, but do be careful. What you see isn't always what you get on eBay...and sometimes you don't even get anything! Be sure that you check the feedback rating of each and every seller; it should be over 99% and it should have a few hundred reviews, at least. Also make sure that you never send money by wire - that's just wrong in so many ways!

For those of you wondering what a bottle will cost, let me tell you. $90 to $130 will get you a 3.4 oz bottle of Bvlgari Rose Essentielle at a a department store, but if you shop at a wholesale perfume store, you'll be able to bring it home for about $50 or $60 dollars. That's not a typo...you can really score this perfume at over half off. Just make sure and let your best friends know, so they don't feel left out of the circle.
