The Popular New (Old) Trend In Outdoor Furniture - Adirondack Is Back!

It's not a big surprise that an American classic such as the Adirondack Chair is making such a great come back in just the last couple of years. This fad is spreading quickly as people all around America are electing to spend more free time relaxing and kicking back in a meticulously crafted outside living area. I remember as a six year old kid, sinking all the way back into one of these wonderful old chairs, my feet hanging just barely over the edge, while grandpa and I peeled the apples we picked and talked about the apple pie topped with ice cream that we just knew my grandma would have just for us after we ate supper. With lemonade on the wide arm rest, the breeze was warm and peaceful. When Grandpa told stories, time flew by. It is truly no big mystery why we love to relax outdoors, whether that is out on the patio, on the porch, on your deck, or in your garden area. What better way to kick back than to slide in to a comfy, deep seated, high backed Adirondack chair and just leave your cares behind.

Where did this part of Americana come from? Actually, the Adirondack Mountains in upstate New York. This design was customary among the many resorts and mountain getaways that were trendy back in the day. By the time the 1940's came around you could see Adirondack almost everywhere. The design started moving south and quickly headed west . As the Adirondack furniture design got more popular, and made its way around the country, regional influences started showing up. The design was given to a wide variety of outdoor furniture styles which include; rocking chairs, porch swings, benches, gliders, and thanks to our French Canadian neighbors, a piece called the "tete a tete" which literally means; "head to head". This nostalgic design incorporates two chairs and a table in between them and is constructed as one piece. What a pleasant way to spend a cozy Spring day with someone you love!

You'll be satisfied and surprised to find a large variety of Adirondack style furniture that's available right now. The original furniture style has not only stood the test of time, but the Adirondack craze has exploded with a delightful supply of finishes, colors, material, and styles. Classic Adirondack style furniture is built from wood that's known to resist decay and insects like cherry, oak, cypress, or red or white cedar. The wood that is selected is going to vary by location as do specific designs. A hot option in classical Adirondack style is deck or patio furnishings built using polymer "lumber" that's literally made out of recycled plastic packaging, old milk jugs, and such. This isn't only an environmentally friendly way to invest in furniture, but you also have some advantages with easy care, longevity, durableness, and your colors aren't going to pale since the pigments are mixed through the plastic resin with UV inhibitors added for protection.
