A BRISTOL DREAM VACATION

By: Travel Bristol

A growing longing for the scenic and peaceful feel of the country side yet modern on its own sense has got me working on this search for the best location in UK for a future vacation. Modern times have left little of most places’ culture and history that sometimes, you seldom get to see much of those traces anymore. And then there it was on the map, situated at the West Country of England.

Brycgstow, as how it was known before, or Bristol now, has become my target of a dream vacation. The lexical change is due to the Bristol’s local dialect, adding an L sound at the end of all words ending in vowel, which is very interesting and is one of many uniquely-Bristols'.

Bristol is interesting not only because it is the second largest city in England, next to London, or that it has been the largest seaport, but because of its preserved culture, which history can well explain. For years, Bristol has fought and won a lot of wars, within it and out. Wars within it involved leaders who were too far-fetched to consider Bristol’s worth, destroying some of its marvels. War outside its borders on the other hand was mostly terrible during the World War II. Bristol then was protected by the walls of a stone castle called Norman Bristol Castle. The castle was destroyed in a latter year. Some of the traces of Bristol's history in the form of artifacts, paintings, structures have been saved and can be checked out

As rich as its culture may be, Bristol City is not at all laid back when it comes to technology and development. Commercial boom began in the 19th century and continued until present times. Investors began building up their businesses within its City harbors, which further enhanced Bristol’s natural beauty.

There are great ways to spend your vacation in this City. Fiestas and events are two major reasons why tourists keep visiting Bristol. Balloon launching for instance is great for the whole family especially your kids. Other get-together and bonding activities recommended for your family’s leisure day or even for a group of friends, include stag weekends, hens day outs and some other fun activities.

Great learning experiences await kids while in Bristol with a short travel time to the Court Farm Country Park or the Bristol Zoo where around 400 species of animals are protected. I don’t have children yet, but I’d still want to have a day dedicated to these marvelous animals.

Sports and activities are unlimited when you start to go looking for them. Go biking through Ashton Court Estate or trekking mountains and caves in the Avon Gorge. Other loves a new sport called ice karting while some go paragliding. Shopping is not an option for ladies like me of course, it’s a must! I’ve learned of some great malls in Bristol and Broadmead Bristol and Mall Cribbs Causeway are two of them.

Hop in with me when I hit the road. Let’s discover Bristol!
