"Steal" Your Way to Online Business Success

By: Larry Didrikson

Have you recently decided to start an online business? Or have you been trying for months to get your online business venture into profitable territory? Maybe what you need to do is "steal" a successful online business system. If you think that sounds ridiculous, please read on.

Why Not Learn from the Success of Others?

From the beginning of time, men have been "stealing" great ideas from their friends and enemies. Most, if not all, of the conveniences you enjoy today are the direct result of building on the innovations of others. Each time a system is emulated, something extra is added to give it a unique quality all its own. This is essentially evolutionary innovation, and it works. If it wasn't for a little borrowing of successful elements every now and then, true progress would likely never occur.

If you're really serious about starting and operating a successful online business, you will probably want to find a mentor. You'll want to find someone that can guide you toward your goals while helping to avoid obstacles along the way. One way to begin is to examine other successful online businesses to try to understand the reasons for their success. You'll want to avoid infringing on another's copyright, but implementing a successful business model is completely legal. You can often even pull ideas from the site design itself without running into trouble.

The Proof is in the Results

If an author was attempting to write the next great mystery novel, she wouldn't be reading Dr. Seuss. Neither should you attempt to adopt the models of businesses that aren't headed in the direction you want to go. Although it's much easier to achieve your goals with a little head-start, you want to bring your own personality to the table as well. You have to be sure the system you choose to emulate meshes with your overall objectives.

Action and Persistence

Building a successful online business is simpler when you decide to build on the experience of those that have gone before you. But it doesn't really matter what plan you choose if you never take action. The best plans in the world will be dismal failures if they're never implemented. Theory will only take you so far. Taking action and gaining the experience by actually "being in the trenches" will be what moves your online business forward. Borrowing from the ideas of others is great. But, in the end, it will always be up to you to see it through.
